Welcome to my blog. My name is Terence Lloyd Hurst. At least, that is the name I use online. This site is a relic from earlier days, when people were were more respectful of other peoples' right to hold contradictory views. But all is not lost. I use this backwater of urbanity to present my take on a range of disparate topics. The original purpose of this site was to dispel some common myths and misunderstandings about Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
This developed into commentaries on aspects of the theory itself, and I pay homage to the work of John Field on the relationship between Special Relativity and absolute simultaneity. Much of his work requires an extensive understanding of mathematical analysis, so I have added a non-mathematical explanation of the issues. To some extent, these reflect my understanding of John's arguments, but they have been seen, approved, (and in some cases improved) by John himself. I therefore consider them to be a fair reflection of his views.
Alternatively, there is a presentation of my own ideas on Simultaneity-Time, which is a fundamentally different conception of the physical universe.
There are also commentaries on a range of philosophical topics which are critical of some widely held philosophic positions, proportionate retribution, UK MPs voting powers and a hobby of mine: building line-array speakers for use in domestic HiFi set-ups.
